Recruitment

NALC Local recruitment

Junior

The North Adelaide Lacrosse Club is a leader in junior sport recruitment in Australia with over fifty new junior players registered this year alone.

The club members secure good relationships with local schools and involve students in lacrosse clinics as part of their school-sporting curriculum. We have developed a program, which is suitable for all age and skill levels from year reception up to middle high school students. Our coaches come to your school with all the equipment needed to hold a clinic and we teach basic skills and rules and then let the students have a short modified game. There is a minimal cost per student to cover expenses.

We also run an informal summer competition on Friday nights. This is a great way to have a go in a non-threatening, non-contact environment and practice and develop your skills before the winter season commences. We have teams of varied skill levels which include parents and juniors, boys and girls. Many of our senior players join in and challenge the under 15 and 18 players as part of their pre-season training. If you would like any more information on any aspect of recruitment then please contact our Secretary on 0430224990 or groovychicks9@hotmail.com

Coaches

Like all sporting clubs looking to improve their player's skills, we are always on the lookout for good coaches' senior and junior. Due to the huge increase in junior players in the last 12 months our coaching staff are being stretched to the limit. If you have played or coached lacrosse in the past and are interested in coaching one of our teams Senior or junior, mens or womens, then we would love to have you. All Coaching positions are available for all grades next year (2010) with your interest needing to be registered to our club secretary by the AGM in early November.

Our club prides itself on supporting our coaches and we ensure good team managers and assistant coaches are in place to make your job easier.

Lacrosse in Australia

Today, Lacrosse is played in major cities of Australia, strongest being Melbourne (Victoria), Adelaide (South Australia) and Perth (Western Australia). There are some organised lacrosse played in other cities like Sydney (New South Wales), Brisbane (Queensland) and Hobart (Tasmania) but not strong. All Australian clubs field both men's and women's teams in a number of divisions ranging from juniors (under 11's - 17's) and seniors (B grade, Reserves and League) grades.

About North Adelaide Lacrosse Club - "The Roosters"

The North Adelaide Lacrosse Club (The Roosters) is a member of the Lacrosse SA association of cubs, which in turn is a member of the national governing body, Lacrosse Australia. The Club is located in the suburb of Gepps Cross north of Adelaide, South Australia. Adelaide is a coastal city with a population of a million people with hot, dry summers and cool to mild winters.

Lacrosse was introduced to South Australia by Professor Bragg in 1885. He was later awarded a Nobel prize for his work with the Rontjen Ray an early form of x-ray. The North Adelaide Lacrosse club was formed in 1887 with Professor Bragg (after whom the electorate of Bragg was named) being a foundation member. In the years since it's formation the club has gained the admiration and respect of many people by it's positive involvement within the community and for it's development of Lacrosse as a sport. In 1988 the South Australian Lacrosse Association (now Lacrosse SA) was formed.

Playing Lacrosse for the North Adelaide Lacrosse Club "The Roosters"

The lacrosse season starts in April and ends in September and the club would prefer that the player stay for the whole duration.

The club will assist you in finding suitable work via a club member who works for an employment agency. You are encouraged to provide full details on your previous employment history to assist the club member to find suitable work for you. The club will also provide suitable accommodation. The accommodation may be with one of the members who will require some assistance with either rent or payment of bills. You will be expected to pay for your own food and living expenses.

Unfortunately, the club cannot afford to pay any airfare for any players, but we will however pick you up from the airport and take you to your host.

Like any player you will be expected to train at least 2-3 times a week. We would hope that your skills and experience will enable you to play A Grade Lacrosse (Top Level). This will be subject to a selection process conducted by the head coach of the club.
